--A new piece entitled
A Moment's Reflection has been added to the
library.
--The Iraq Page has be
updated to eliminate old links and provide some information regarding the
transition of power.
--The new Iraqi Interim Constitution is now
available in both English and
Arabic. (and in .pdf format in
English and Arabic)
--As you may have noticed, the site was off line
for a few days. We have moved to a new host and the site is now much faster. You
will be seeing many changes in the coming weeks as we over haul the site's
content and design.
--The document known as the
2003 Draft Geneva Peace Accord is
available in the Document Room. Copies are
also available in Hebrew and in
French.
--The document known as the "Roadmap
to Peace" has been added to the Document Room.
--The Coptic Page
has been completely updated with new links and new books.
--The links on the
Education page have been updated and new links added.
--The links on the Banking
and Business pages have been updated and new links
added.

Text of UN Security Council Resolution 1441 regarding Iraq and Weapons of
Mass Destruction
--The charitable arm of this organization has
been dissolved, effective May 10, 2002. We are no longer soliciting or accepting
donations of any kind. This organization remains not for profit, but we are no
longer a recognized charity. Due to the change in mood recently we elected to
dissolve the charity, but keep the website active. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact us.
--We have added a new section to the Library
called "From the grapevine." This is a
collection of stories we have found that we thought would be of interest, or
have been forwarded to us with the request to get the word out about these
writers. While we neither endorse nor sponsor these authors or their work, we
feel that what they have to say is important enough to join in spreading their
words.
-- Following the ruling as of 2/14/2002 the State
of Bahrain is now to be known as the Kingdom of Bahrain, with the Emir being
named King. The new constitution is available
here.
--We have added a list of the
Top Recommended books of 2001, as well as a list of
the Top Selling books of 2001 as picked by the
readers of Mideastinfo.com.
--We have remodeled the
Travel section to celebrate our new partnership with Expedia.com. Ready to
travel?
--We have modified the
bookstore to reflect our recommendations following the 9/11 attacks.
--We have a new author! Samar Abdul-Hadi has her
first article in the Library. Samar was born in
Jerusalem, received her BA/BS in economics and mathematics at Simmons College in
Boston, and her MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
She is currently a Planning and Evaluation Specialist for the American Near East
Refugee Aid (ANERA) in their Jerusalem Regional Office.
--We have moved our mailing list to a Yahoo!

--Our Travel Books section has been updated to
include all the latest releases!
--The Document
Room has new additions! We have added copies of the Mitchell Report of the
Israel-Palestine situation, and copies of Amnesty International's Year 2000
country reports for the Middle East.
--The Library has
been done over! We have archived older stories
and pieces and have presented newer works by some of our contributors. Remember
if you have a piece to submit, or would like to become a regular writer, click
here!
--We have a new author! Edna Yaghi has three
articles posted in the Library. Ms. Yaghi is an
American ex-pat living in Amman, Jordan with her family. She has taught English
at several language centers in Amman and wrote for 4 years for Jordan's only
English daily newspaper. Ms. Yaghi is married and has eight children. She is
also a contributor to the Palestine Times, Middleeastwire.com and
Mediamonitors.com.
--The Saudi Arabia page
has been updated to reflect new government websites.
--We have started adding Constitutions to the Document
Room.
--We have added a "Most
Popular" section to the Bookstore. These are the ten books that get the
most attention from our readers.
--The New &
Noteworthy section of the Bookstore has new selections.
--Our Annual
Report is now available to the public.
--All of our country profiles have been updated
through the year 2000.
--The Results of our Israeli
Election Poll have been posted.
--Information has been added for the Special
Israeli Elections on February 6th.
--The Bahá'í page
and the Zoroastrian page have been completely updated. A large number of resources have been added.
--The text of the 2000
Arab Summit Resolution is available in the Document
Room.
--A new article has been entered in the Library
concerning an American's reaction to the Jonathan Pollard affair and its
aftermath. Please read "Naďve about Pollard?"
-- A new article has been entered in the Library
covering the end of the Camp David negotiations and the future of the peace
process. Please read "A Future without a future."
-- As requested, we have added a separate category for Zionism
on the Israel page.
--We have a new author! Dr. Denis J. Sullivan now
has an article posted in the Library. Denis
J. Sullivan (Ph.D., University of Michigan, 1987) is Associate Professor of
Political Science and Director of International Affairs at Northeastern
University in Boston, Massachusetts.
His books include Islam in Contemporary Egypt: Civil Society vs. the State (co-author
with Sana Abed-Kotob) (Lynne Rienner Publishers, 1999); Non-Governmental Organizations and Freedom of Association in Egypt and
Palestine: A Comparative Analysis (Jerusalem: Palestinian Academic Society
for the Study of International Affairs, 1995); and Private Voluntary Organizations in Egypt: Islamic Development, Private
Initiative, and State Control
(University Press of Florida, 1994).
Professor Sullivan was Visiting Researcher at Bir Zeit University,
Ramallah, Palestine (1995-96) and at Cairo University (1990-91) and has taught
at the American University in Cairo (1990-91).
--Another new author is Jason Barry. Starting a series of article called
"Memories of Egypt," Jay's articles are now in the Library. Jason is a
graduate of the University of North Texas and the American University in Cairo. Jay Barry is a traveler and archaeologist who is always wondering where his
next excavation and next trip will take him.
--A historical document section has been added to the Document
Room. (6/4/00)
--A letter from H.E. President Hosni Mubarak of
Egypt to the people of the United States during his visit to the United
States has been added to the document room.
--Secretary of State Albright's
speech regarding the future of US-Iranian Relations is now available through
the document room.
--The Map Room now offers maps of all the
countries in the Middle East. Soon to come are more detailed city maps, and maps
of the ongoing Arab-Israeli Peace Process.
--The Bahá'í Page
has gone live! It is in its infant stages still, but it is now available for
your research.
--A Copy of the Framework
for Peace between Israel and Syria is now available from the library! Read
this to help understand what the negotiations may cover in the coming months
between Israel and Syria.
--Not only have we added a new Travel
page, we now offer a Travel Bookstore for you to
find and buy the travel guides you need at lower prices than a bookstore or from
the publisher!
--We have now introduced the ability to search for
information on our site. Just go to the Search Page and
let us help you along.
